Kite kite kite!

Bear with me as I try to make a long story short! So I was wanting to surprise Jason with a gift for his promotion to Major. It was on my mind when he mentioned a pilot friend selling his kiteboard. My original instinct was to say "Oh no, that is way too dangerous" as he had not so long ago shown me a YouTube video of some poor kiteboarding person being carried up over 10 stories high. He reassured me that IF he was to ever kiteboard he would never attempt it in high winds. So, the wheels in my head starting turning, and before long I put the plans in place for the kite to show up on Jason's desk. When he saw it at work, he couldn't have been more surprised since I had convinced him I was totally against the whole deal. So, come to find out Destin has some perfect kiteboarding beaches. Jason is doing a great job learning the complicated and physically challenging process of kiteboarding. I meanwhile have been bundling up and learning to keep upwind from the immense kite!

September Fun

Septembers in Florida are great! From Lex and Clark visiting us, to taking TIME OFF to go visit Apalachicola, to finally making our way down to Orlando for an amazing time with my mom and dad. OH yes... on the way back home we hit up the Kennedy Space Center and Daytona Beach. Due to a storm surge, we weren't able to experience cars driving on the beach but that didn't stop us from having a fun, relaxing end to our vacation week.

Summertime

Summer in Florida has been relatively eventful so far! We started off having the opportunity to wakeboard in the midst of a dolphin pod.
Followed with lightning strike which downed a tree onto our roof. The 4th was really great, watching the show in Boggy Bayou with some squadron friends. And lastly, our trip to Pier Park in Panama City proved to be a fun way to spend a Wednesday off work!

Wakeboarding

It's official...Jason and I are wakeboarding addicts. Well, I'm enjoying it thoroughly except for the nasty face-plant-whiplash-wipeouts. Jason is a crazy-maniac-180spinning machine! Meatball likes to come along and watch the show!

New beginnings

2008 has been a year of "firsts". My first "real" job, first time to live at the beach, first boat, first wakeboard, first time to wakeboard, and first ever blog. After writing first a few times, it starts to look misspelled. Anyway, I just read my friend Jenny Brooks' blog and she is so witty... mine will always seem dull in comparison. And having a sister who can write her way out of a paper sack doesn't help my self esteem. But I thought it would be fun to try. Meatball is sitting here with me as I type, giving me a look that says "I love you no matter what anyone else says."
